Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Remains in Gulshan

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has decided not to reside at the state guesthouse, Jamuna, opting instead to stay at his personal residence at 196 Gulshan Avenue.

This was confirmed to journalists on Thursday by the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon. He stated that the Prime Minister feels more comfortable in his private Gulshan home, which he returned to upon arriving back in the country. “The residence has been fully prepared and arranged for his stay,” Rumon added.

The Prime Minister’s schedule for Eid has also been outlined: he will attend the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah at 8:00 a.m., joining people from all walks of life in the Eid prayer. Following the prayers, he will visit the state guesthouse, Jamuna, at 10:00 a.m. to exchange Eid greetings with prominent national figures.

According to Rumon, the Prime Minister’s Gulshan residence is equipped with all necessary administrative and security measures to ensure a safe and comfortable stay. Security personnel, including high-level police teams, have been assigned to safeguard the area throughout his visit.

Staying in his personal residence reflects the Prime Minister’s preference for comfort and privacy while maintaining the formal obligations of her office. It also demonstrates a balance between personal convenience and public engagement, as he will still participate in key ceremonial events, including the Eid prayers and official greetings at Jamuna.

The decision has drawn attention from both political observers and the general public, highlighting a trend among senior leaders to combine formal duties with private comfort. By attending the National Eidgah prayer, Tarique Rahman will maintain direct contact with citizens, fostering a sense of inclusivity and tradition during the festive occasion.

Representatives from various districts are expected to gather at the National Eidgah, marking the event as a significant social and political occasion in the capital. This blend of personal choice and official engagement underscores the Prime Minister’s approach to managing public duties while prioritising personal well-being.

In summary, while he foregoes the official state guesthouse for personal comfort, Tarique Rahman continues to participate fully in the national and ceremonial aspects of Eid celebrations, ensuring both tradition and accessibility are maintained.
