Prince Mahmud Honoured for Musical Excellence

Renowned Bangladeshi music director and lyricist Prince Mahmud has recently received the prestigious National Film Award 2025 for Best Music Director for his song “Ishwar” from the film Priyatama. Having contributed consistently to the music industry since 1994, this accolade represents a milestone not only recognising his artistic innovation but also the profound connection he maintains with audiences and listeners alike.

Following the announcement, Prince Mahmud expressed his heartfelt emotions:
“Many feelings often remain unspoken, but this recognition brings them to life. Receiving the National Film Award fills me with unparalleled joy and also instils a sense of new responsibility.” He extended his gratitude to the Priyatama team and the jury members for their support and recognition.

He further reflected on the role of his personal circle in his creative journey:
“The expectations and love of my family, friends, and audience have always been my greatest source of strength. During times when recognition eluded me, their disappointment was far greater than mine.”

Recent Work and Future Plans

Prince Mahmud’s compositions for the 2025 film Jongli have already drawn critical acclaim. Looking ahead, he plans to focus on songs commemorating Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War, paying tribute to fallen youth and prominent figures. He has begun composing pieces dedicated to martyrs such as Abrar Fahad.

“These songs are being crafted with patience and care, infusing each melody with my heartfelt emotions. This sincerity creates a distinct resonance in the hearts of listeners,” he stated.

Currently, Prince Mahmud is developing five new compositions centred on the 1971 freedom fighters and martyred intellectuals. Through fresh melodies and innovative arrangements, his aim extends beyond recognition: he seeks to touch the hearts of audiences while honouring history, justice, and national pride.

This latest accolade, combined with forthcoming projects, underscores Prince Mahmud’s enduring dedication and promises a new horizon for Bangladeshi music—where creativity and authentic storytelling converge to inspire generations.
