Prize Money in Crores for Champions, How Much for Tanzid–Shariful?

The curtain came down on the twelfth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday with a high-octane final that underlined both the competitive depth of the tournament and its growing financial significance. Rajshahi Warriors emerged as champions for the second time in their history, defeating Chattogram Royals in a closely watched final and capping a season marked by individual brilliance and collective consistency.

As champions, Rajshahi Warriors secured the largest share of the prize money, taking home BDT 27.5 million. The runners-up, Chattogram Royals, were awarded BDT 17.5 million, a substantial sum that reflected their strong campaign throughout the season despite falling short at the final hurdle. The distribution of prize money once again highlighted the BPL’s role as one of the most lucrative domestic tournaments in Bangladeshi cricket.

Beyond team honours, the twelfth BPL was particularly notable for several standout individual performances. Chattogram Royals’ fast bowler Shariful Islam enjoyed a remarkable tournament with the ball, consistently troubling batters with pace, movement, and control. He finished the season with a record-breaking 26 wickets, surpassing the previous single-season mark held by Taskin Ahmed. For his achievements, Shariful was awarded BDT 500,000 as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker and a further BDT 1 million as the Player of the Tournament. In total, his individual earnings reached BDT 1.5 million, making him the most rewarded player of the season.

The final itself also produced a historic batting performance. Rajshahi opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim struck a memorable century, becoming only the third batter in BPL history to score a hundred in a final. His innings not only anchored Rajshahi’s title-winning effort but also earned him the Player of the Match award, accompanied by a cash prize of BDT 500,000.

Fielding excellence was recognised as well. Rangpur Riders captain Litton Kumar Das was named the tournament’s Best Fielder after taking ten catches and consistently setting high standards in the field. His efforts were rewarded with BDT 300,000. Meanwhile, young prospect Ripon Mondol was honoured as the Emerging Player of the Tournament, also receiving BDT 300,000 for his promising performances and potential for future seasons.
