A harrowing incident recently shook the village of Shilpara in Ward 5 of Rauzan Municipality, Chittagong. In a deliberate act of arson, the homes of two Hindu families—Sukh Shil and Anil Shil—were reduced to ashes. Alongside their houses, the families lost furniture, personal belongings, and life savings in an instant. The victims were left devastated, grappling with fear, uncertainty, and despair.
In the wake of the tragedy, humanitarian support came from Allama Ilyas Nuri, President of the Bangladesh Islami Front Rauzan Upazila and a parliamentary candidate representing the Greater Sunni Alliance. On Thursday, 25 December, he visited the site to meet the affected families, offer comfort, and pledge his ongoing support.
Addressing the villagers, Allama Nuri emphasised:
“When people care for one another, peace returns to society. It is not religious identity but standing beside one another in times of crisis that constitutes the highest form of devotion.”
His remarks conveyed a powerful message to the community: humanity transcends religious and social boundaries, uniting people in solidarity during adversity.
He was accompanied by a number of local leaders, including:

These leaders collectively assured the affected families of assistance with rehabilitation and reconstruction, while also urging the authorities to ensure accountability and take strict action against those responsible.

Experts note that in situations of both natural and man-made disasters, community cohesion is vital. The Rauzan incident exemplifies how unity and compassion can significantly aid the physical and psychological recovery of affected families.
The visit of Allama Ilyas Nuri and his team serves as a reminder of the importance of social responsibility, highlighting that true humanitarian action is measured not by religion or background but by the willingness to stand beside those in need.
