“Religion is being used to mislead people: Khokon.”

Narsingdi, 11 January: Khairul Kabir Khokon, the Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has cautioned that religion is being exploited to mislead ordinary citizens, warning the public not to fall prey to deception. He emphasised that those who engage in shirk or fraud under the guise of religion should not be trusted.

Khokon delivered his remarks as the chief guest at a prayer gathering (Doa Mahfil) held in memory of the late Begum Khaleda Zia. The event took place at Daspara Nasari Field on Sunday afternoon and was organised by Wards 5 and 6 of Chinishpur Union.

Speaking to the attendees, Khokon said, “Those who have previously seen the symbols of political parties—be it the sheaf of paddy, the boat, or the plough—should now also look at our record. In 1971, two lakh mothers and sisters were robbed of everything, and 31 lakh people were martyred due to the actions of collaborators, traitors, and hypocrites. Therefore, the general public must not be misled.”

The gathering saw participation from BNP leaders and activists across various levels. The event was presided over by Abdul Al Mamun Munshi, President of Ward 6 BNP, and conducted by Khalilur Rahman, General Secretary of Ward 5 BNP.
