Revolutionary Khudiram Bose: A Glorious Star of Bengal’s Age of Fire

In the collective conscience of Bengalis, whenever patriotism, sacrifice and fearless courage are spoken of, the name of the great revolutionary Khudiram Bose rises foremost. In the freedom struggle of the Indian subcontinent, he was not only one of the youngest freedom fighters but also a blazing symbol of defiance against oppression.

On 3 December, the nation remembers this illustrious son of Bengal with deep respect, love and heartfelt emotion.

From Birth to the Path of Struggle

Born on this day in 1889 at Mohoboni village under Khajuri Police Station in Medinipur, Khudiram became inspired by patriotism at a very young age. Witnessing British atrocities, a fierce fire of rebellion sparked within him. By sixteen or seventeen, he had already joined the armed resistance. His soul burned with the vow of freedom, as though he had come into the world to dedicate himself to the nation.

Pages of Undying Bravery

After participating in the bomb attack targeting British judge Kingsford, he became marked as a dangerous rebel. Even after arrest, his eyes gleamed with fearlessness. “Bande Mataram” echoed from his lips, empowering him with strength and resolve.

When his death sentence was declared, the smile on his face sent a message to the oppressed—death is not the end of the freedom struggle; it is the beginning.

Eternal Light of Rebellion

Even at the gallows at the age of eighteen, Khudiram stood smiling. His pure love for the motherland and his supreme sacrifice made him immortal. Today he remains Bengal’s pride and a shining symbol of India’s freedom movement.

On his birth anniversary, we offer our profound respect, affection and homage to him. His courage inspires us; his sacrifice strengthens our resolve.
