Rumeen Farhana Misses Out on Nomination Once Again

As preparations intensify for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has officially named candidates for 36 additional constituencies, bringing the total number of declared nominees to 272. Despite the latest announcements, 28 constituencies remain without confirmed candidates.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir revealed the updated list during a press conference at the party Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday afternoon (4 November). The new list reflects the party’s ongoing efforts to finalise its slate of candidates ahead of the polls.

Among notable developments, Rumeen Farhana, BNP’s Assistant International Affairs Secretary, has once again been excluded from the list. The party has yet to announce candidates for Brahmanbaria-2 and Brahmanbaria-6, constituencies in her home district. Her repeated omission has sparked discussion within party circles and among political observers.

The latest announcements also confirmed Nadira Akhter as the nominee for Madaripur-1, replacing Kamal Zaman Molla, whose candidacy had previously been put on hold.

Earlier, on 3 November, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir unveiled the party’s candidates for 237 constituencies during a separate press conference at the Gulshan office, marking the beginning of the party’s official nominations for the upcoming election. With the inclusion of the 36 new candidates, BNP is steadily moving toward completing its electoral preparations.
