Those who do not stand in support of the Prophet (Sm) cannot be Muslims—BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed made this remark while attending the Khatme Nabuwwat Grand Conference held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday (15 November).
He said that he was impressed by the peaceful gathering and the manner in which everyone was listening to the speeches with patience. This discipline and the mindset to listen calmly reflect the sincerity within your hearts. He added that he came to express solidarity with the participants.
Identifying himself as a worker of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Salahuddin said that their leader, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, was the first to include “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim” in the Constitution of Bangladesh, which remains intact. Many attempted to remove it but failed. However, what is no longer present is the principle Ziaur Rahman included—‘Trust and faith in Almighty Allah’—which had been part of the preamble and Article 8 as a fundamental principle of state policy. It has been removed. He asked the audience whether they wanted it reinstated and pledged that it would be restored, InshaAllah.
He said that foreign guests had quoted verses by Allama Iqbal. People had heard the words of the Qur’an. The Prophet (Sm) was sent by Allah as a mercy to all mankind. As Muslims, they believe in “La ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah.” The Prophet (Sm) declared, “I am the last Prophet; no Prophet will come after me.” Anyone who still claims prophethood is not within the declaration of the Prophet (Sm). He recalled Allama Iqbal’s verse—“Ki Muhammad se wafa tune to hum tere hain…”.
Salahuddin stated that Muslims believe the Prophet (Sm) to be the final Messenger and that by reciting the Kalima they became Muslims. As citizens of Bangladesh, they accept their national identity, yet all Muslims across the world together form the Millat-e-Islamia. Because of this disunity, Palestinians are facing massacres and Rohingya Muslims are being persecuted across different countries—these sufferings arise from their collective weaknesses.
The BNP leader said that if Allah entrusts them with the responsibility of governing Bangladesh, if the people lovingly give them this responsibility, and if everyone cooperates, they will support the demands presented today. Necessary legal measures will be taken through parliamentary discussions, InshaAllah. For this, the entire nation must remain united, and all Muslims of Bangladesh must stand together. He affirmed that their proposals would be accepted. Those who do not stand by the Prophet (Sm) cannot be Muslims.
It may be noted that the International Khatme Nabuwwat Grand Conference is underway at Suhrawardy Udyan demanding that the Qadianis be declared non-Muslims at the state level. Organised by the Khatme Nabuwwat Protection Council, devout Muslims from different regions of the country have joined the event. The conference began at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with scholars from five countries including Bangladesh participating.
Speakers at the conference demanded the immediate declaration of Qadianis as non-Muslims and urged Chief Adviser Dr Yunus to take necessary action.
