Bangladeshi singer, songwriter and composer S K Samir has unveiled a new musical release to mark the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year, presenting a fresh cultural offering for listeners at the start of the traditional calendar year.
The newly released song, titled “Tumi Kotota Sukhī Hoyecho” (“How Happy Have You Become”), has been launched on his official YouTube platform, Samir Express. In this project, Samir has taken on multiple creative roles, not only performing the vocals but also writing the lyrics and composing the music himself, reflecting a deeply personal artistic approach.
The release has been positioned as a festive musical gift for audiences celebrating Pahela Baishakh, a cultural occasion widely observed across Bangladesh with music, fairs, and traditional performances. The timing of the launch aligns with the season’s emphasis on renewal, nostalgia, and emotional reflection, themes often echoed in Bengali New Year music.
Speaking about the song, Samir explained that it was originally created several years ago and had previously been performed live on television. Over time, he said, listeners and fans repeatedly encouraged him to release an official music video version. Responding to that demand, he chose Pahela Baishakh as the symbolic moment to finally publish the track in its full visual format.
He further noted that the music video features model Sheik Chandni alongside him, adding a visual narrative dimension to the song’s emotional tone. The video has been directed by Soumitra Ghosh Imon, whose production style aims to complement the song’s reflective mood.
