Scheduled Power Cut for Maintenance in Natore

A planned eight-hour suspension of electricity supply is set to take place in Natore on Thursday as part of essential maintenance work aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power distribution and improving customer service standards. The announcement was made by the Sales and Distribution Division of the Northern Electricity Supply PLC (NESCO), Natore office, through an official notice.

According to the notice, electricity will remain temporarily shut off in the bypass feeder area from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The interruption has been scheduled to facilitate routine maintenance of the distribution network, particularly the trimming and removal of tree branches located near overhead power lines. Officials explained that overgrown vegetation in close proximity to live electrical infrastructure poses a significant operational risk, potentially leading to service disruptions, short circuits, or even dangerous accidents during adverse weather conditions.

The authorities emphasised that such preventive maintenance is a critical component of ensuring long-term stability and safety in the power supply system. During storms or heavy rainfall, tree branches can fall onto transmission lines, causing widespread outages and damage to infrastructure. Regular clearance work is therefore carried out to minimise these risks and enhance system resilience.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary preparations in advance to minimise inconvenience. Households and businesses that rely heavily on electricity—such as water pumping systems, small commercial establishments, and home-based enterprises—have been particularly encouraged to arrange alternative arrangements for the duration of the outage.

Officials from the power department also stated that the maintenance work will be carried out in coordination with the local administration to ensure safety and efficiency. Once the work is completed and the system is deemed stable, electricity supply will be restored gradually.

A summary of the scheduled power interruption is presented below:

They reiterated that proactive maintenance not only enhances operational efficiency but also significantly reduces the likelihood of unexpected power failures in the future.

While the temporary outage may cause some disruption to daily life and economic activities in the area, officials maintain that the initiative is essential for strengthening the overall safety and stability of the electricity distribution network.
