In a tragic incident in Dhaka’s Bhatara area, a security guard lost his life following a dispute over owed money with a colleague. The deceased has been identified as Md. Rakib Hasan, aged 24. One suspect has been apprehended, while the principal accused remains at large.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Suman Biswas of Bhatara Police Station, the altercation occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a security personnel’s mess located on Kuril Bazar Road. Hasan reportedly had an ongoing dispute with his co-worker, Shakil Ali, over a sum of BDT 13,000. The disagreement escalated into a heated argument and subsequently turned violent.
Police sources revealed that Shakil Ali, together with an accomplice, Masud Rana, assaulted Hasan. During the attack, Shakil struck Hasan beneath his left ear with a wooden stick, causing severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, Hasan was pronounced dead by attending medical staff.
ASI Suman added that the police promptly recovered the body from the scene. Following standard legal procedures, the body was sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
In the aftermath, Shakil Ali fled the scene and is currently evading arrest, while his associate, Masud Rana, has been taken into police custody. A murder case has been filed at Bhatara Police Station, and efforts to apprehend the fugitive continue.
Rakib Hasan was originally from Uttar Char Ramni Mohon village in Laxmipur Sadar and was the son of Soharwardi. At the time of his death, he resided in Joar Sahara, Dhaka.
