Seven-Case Suspect Arrested With Foreign Pistol

In a targeted operation in Talatola slum, Mirpur, Dhaka, police from Pallabi Thana have apprehended 37-year-old Mohammad Alal, recovering a foreign-made pistol and ammunition from his possession. The arrest was carried out in the early hours of Saturday, around 2:00 am.

According to Pallabi Thana authorities, Alal is a seasoned criminal with a record of seven cases, including robbery and assaults on law enforcement personnel. During the operation, officers seized a foreign pistol, a magazine, and four rounds of live ammunition, which are now under forensic examination.

Pallabi Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Alamgir Jahan told reporters, “Based on confidential intelligence, we conducted a raid in Talatola slum and successfully apprehended Alal with a firearm. A case has been filed against him under the Arms Act. We are interrogating him to trace the origin of the weapon and identify any accomplices involved in the illegal arms trade.”

Police sources indicate that Alal has been involved in multiple illegal activities across the city, and his network is believed to have been operating covertly for several years. Authorities are now pursuing leads that could expose additional members of his criminal network.

The table below summarises Alal’s criminal record and the items recovered during the operation:

OC Alamgir added that the arrest sends a strong message to criminal elements in the area that law enforcement will not tolerate illegal arms possession or attacks on police personnel. “Our investigation continues to determine the source of the firearm and whether Alal had any collaborators. The recovered weapons will undergo forensic analysis, which will aid in strengthening the case against him,” he said.

Local residents have expressed relief following the arrest, noting that Talatola had been a hotspot for criminal activities, causing concern for those living in the area. The swift action by the police is expected to improve security and restore confidence among the community.

The Pallabi Thana has also indicated that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal firearms and organised crime in Mirpur. Police officials stated that further raids may be conducted based on intelligence gathered from Alal’s interrogation.

With this high-profile arrest, authorities hope to disrupt the operations of organised crime networks, enhance public safety, and prevent future attacks on law enforcement personnel.
