At least seven individuals, including a woman, were injured in an attack linked to a dispute over ducks in Mohanganj Upazila, Netrokona. The victims were swiftly taken to the local health complex for treatment, while one critically injured person was referred to Mymensingh Medical College (MMMC) for specialised care. The incident prompted the filing of a police case on Sunday, 15 March.
Law enforcement officers conducted a night-time operation following the attack and successfully apprehended one suspect. On Monday, 16 March, Mohanganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Hafizul Islam Harun, confirmed the details. The incident initially occurred on Saturday, 14 March, in Ali Pur village of Suair Union within the upazila.

According to local sources and complaints, the dispute began when supporters of Masud Mia released ducks forcefully into the pond in front of Rafiqul Islam’s residence. When Rafiqul Islam’s associates attempted to intervene, tensions escalated, leading to a confrontation. The altercation subsequently intensified when Masud Mia’s group allegedly attacked Rafiqul Islam and his supporters with homemade weapons, resulting in multiple injuries.
Following the attack, Rafiqul Islam lodged a formal complaint against eight individuals, naming them as the accused:

OC Hafizul Islam Harun stated, “Following the filing of the case, a prompt operation led to the arrest of Nehatulla. He was sent to court on Monday afternoon. Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing.”
The incident has raised concerns among local residents regarding escalating minor disputes and the use of violence. Authorities emphasise that ensuring justice for the victims and preventing further conflicts remains a priority.
