Seventeen Leaders and Activists Expelled from Nabinnagar Chhatra Dal

In a significant move, the Nabiganj unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra Dal has expelled seventeen of its leaders and activists for violating party discipline. The decision was formalised on Monday, 2 February, through a joint letter signed by the district Chhatra Dal convener, Shahinur Islam, and the secretary, Samir Chakraborty.

The expelled members include prominent figures from various student units across Nabiganj, encompassing former conveners, secretaries, and presidents of college and union branches. According to the official statement, the disciplinary action extends to both their primary membership and all affiliated positions within the party.

The expelled leaders have expressed their reactions on social media, with opinions ranging from remorseful acknowledgment of disciplinary violations to affirmations of their enduring loyalty to the party.

Speaking to the press, Apel Mahmud, a former convener, stated:
“It is true that we were accused of violating party discipline while acting out of personal loyalty. Yet, our love for the party remains unwavering. Even if expelled, we remain Chhatra Dal members for life. The BNP is intertwined with us at our very core. Despite the party’s decision, our allegiance will never waver.”

This disciplinary measure reflects the party leadership’s ongoing efforts to maintain internal cohesion and discipline across its student network in Nabiganj and the wider Brahmanbaria district.
