Shahriar rules out any fresh US sanction, State Minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam today ruled out any possibility of getting fresh sanction from the US  against any individual or organization of Bangladesh.  “Certainly not,” he told reporters while asking for comments on fear of any fresh sanction referring to a recent directive that was sent to all Bangladesh foreign missions from the foreign ministry.

The junior minister termed the directives to Bangladesh envoys as a routine task to uphold Dhaka’s interest and professionalism abroad. Dhaka would raise its demand for the withdrawal of sanctions imposed on the elite force, Rapid Action Bangladesh (RAB), during the upcoming visit of Assistant  Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu here next week, he added.

“As long as, we are transparent and they (US) receive it with good intention, there is no scope for any ambiguity (between Bangladesh and US),” Alam continued.
