Sitakunda Clash Leaves Driver Dead

A 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed following a violent altercation in Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram on the eve of Eid, raising concerns over how minor local disputes can quickly escalate into fatal incidents.

The victim, Md Raju, was a resident of the Jahanabad in the area under Madam Bibirhat. According to police and local sources, the incident took place at approximately 9:00 pm on Friday.

Shortly before iftar, a quarrel broke out between two local families over the planting of banana trees along the roadside. Although the disagreement was apparently resolved at the time with the intervention of local people, tensions reportedly lingered.

Later in the evening, the situation took a violent turn. At around 9:00 pm, Raju became involved in a confrontation with members of the opposing group. What began as an argument quickly escalated into a physical fight. Witnesses reported that Raju was beaten during the altercation and eventually collapsed after sustaining serious injuries.
