Six More Held in Mymensingh in Connection with Dipu Das Murder Granted Two-Day Remand

In a chilling development surrounding the brutal killing of Dipo Chandra Das, a 27-year-old garment factory worker from Valuka, the Mymensingh court has granted police a two-day remand for six additional suspects. Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahadat Hossain issued the order following a hearing on Sunday afternoon.

The six individuals, all employees of Pioneer Knitwears (BD) Limited, were arrested during separate late-night raids in the Hobirbari and Kashor areas of Valuka last Wednesday. According to police, the suspects allegedly incited fellow workers within the factory and exerted pressure to force Dipo’s dismissal, ultimately culminating in the fatal attack.

Initial investigations reveal that the altercation originated from a conversation among three female workers inside the factory, in which Dipo also participated. Tensions escalated after a verbal dispute between Dipo and Selim Mia from Begumganj, Noakhali, during which allegations of derogatory remarks concerning Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were made. The conflict quickly spread among the factory’s more than a hundred workers, ultimately leading to Dipo’s assault and death.

Law enforcement agencies have so far arrested 18 individuals in connection with the case, of whom 12 have already been placed under a three-day remand.

Inspector P.S.M. Mostachinur Rahman of the Mymensingh court stated that the remand hearing for the six suspects was completed in their presence earlier today. Police had initially requested a seven-day remand for the accused last Thursday.

The investigation into this brutal murder remains ongoing, with authorities actively working to identify the principal perpetrators and gather further evidence.
