In a groundbreaking move that blends sport, culture, and entertainment, Snoop Dogg has been appointed the first-ever honorary coach for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The announcement, made on Thursday by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), marks a historic moment for American athletics, as the hip-hop superstar steps into a role designed to motivate, inspire, and celebrate the nation’s top athletes.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., expressed his excitement at joining the Olympic family. “Team USA athletes are the real stars – I’m just here to cheer, uplift, and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines,” the 54-year-old said in a statement. He went on to praise the athletes for embodying the very essence of sport: “This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart, and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”
As honorary coach, Snoop will focus on uplifting athletes both on and off the field. He will work closely with the Team USA Fund, a programme dedicated to providing financial and developmental resources to help athletes achieve their highest potential. Through his involvement, he aims to bring greater public awareness to the fund and the opportunities it provides for aspiring Olympians.
In addition, Snoop has teamed up with Fanatics to launch a “Coach Snoop × Team USA” merchandise collection, set to debut later this month. A portion of the proceeds from this line will go directly to supporting Team USA athletes, further highlighting Snoop’s commitment to giving back to the Olympic movement.
Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the USOPC, welcomed Snoop to the Olympic family with enthusiasm. “From the moment Snoop met Team USA athletes, there was an instant connection – mutual respect, genuine curiosity, and a lot of laughter,” she explained. “His energy and enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement are contagious, and we are thrilled to officially welcome him as a member of the Team Behind the Team.”
Adding to his Olympic involvement, Snoop recently confirmed that he would also be part of NBCUniversal’s Winter Olympics coverage, bringing fans unique insights and entertainment from Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in February 2026. The Winter Games, spanning from 6 to 22 February, promise to be historic, both on the slopes and off, with Coach Snoop cheering every jump, spin, and medal-winning moment.
