Kasim Khan, the younger son of Pakistan’s incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has raised serious allegations that his father is being kept in “complete isolation” and inhumane conditions. In a detailed statement released on X, Kasim revealed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder is currently being held in a “death cell,” with no proof of life provided to the family for the past six weeks.
Kasim Khan noted that his father has been imprisoned for 845 days. He described the situation as being “deliberately kept in the dark,” stating that despite specific court orders, the Pakistani government and prison authorities have denied both family members and legal counsel any access to him. According to Kasim, the lack of any phone calls or physical meetings for over a month constitutes a severe violation of fundamental human rights.
The statement expressed deep concern regarding the former premier’s safety and well-being. Kasim warned that should any harm befall his father, the Pakistani government and their “handlers” would be held legally, morally, and internationally accountable. He further alleged that Imran Khan is being confined to a small, windowless cell without adequate ventilation or light, which contradicts international standards for the treatment of prisoners.
Living in the United Kingdom, Kasim and his elder brother Sulaiman have traditionally stayed away from active politics; however, they are now seeking urgent intervention from the international community. They have demanded immediate “proof of life” and the restoration of visitation rights as mandated by the judiciary. Political analysts suggest that the authorities are employing these harsh measures to mentally break the popular leader and suppress the PTI movement. Kasim concluded his appeal by urging global human rights organisations to demand an end to this inhumane isolation and to call for the release of Pakistan’s most prominent political figure.
