Dhaka, 5 March 2026 – Southeast Bank has officially introduced its specially designed Visa Student Credit Card, aimed at empowering the younger generation with responsible financial management and fostering inclusive access to modern banking services. The formal launch took place on Wednesday at the Sheraton Dhaka Hotel, highlighting the bank’s commitment to financial literacy and early-stage credit education.
Bank officials stated that the new card is intended to support university-level students by providing controlled access to credit, enabling them to manage educational, digital, and daily expenses responsibly while cultivating prudent financial habits from an early age. The programme also underscores Southeast Bank’s goal of integrating students into the digital financial ecosystem, promoting financial autonomy and transparency.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, as the chief guest. M. A. Kashem, Chairman of Southeast Bank, attended as a special guest. Other distinguished attendees included Aziz Al Kaiser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at North South University, and Sabbir Ahmed Khan, Country Manager of Visa International. The event was presided over by Md. Khalid Mahmud Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Southeast Bank, alongside two Additional Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Directors, and representatives from prominent universities such as North South University, Asha University, and Daffodil International University.
According to the bank’s official statement, the Visa Student Credit Card is available to undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in accredited universities. Parental or guardian guarantees provide an additional layer of risk management, ensuring that young cardholders can access credit safely.
