Legal Process Ongoing Over Job Status of Army Officers

The Bangladesh Army has stated that the job status of the 15 detained army officers accused in cases of enforced disappearances, killings and crimes against humanity remains under legal consideration.

According to the Army Headquarters, the International Crimes Tribunal Act does not clearly specify whether an officer automatically loses their job once they are named in a charge sheet. Authorities are therefore waiting for a clearer legal interpretation or specific government instructions.

Brigadier General Md Mustafizur Rahman, Director of the AG Branch at the PS Directorate, confirmed this at a press briefing held at Army Headquarters on Wednesday.

He noted that the employment status of the accused officers falls entirely within legal and procedural frameworks.
