Strict Security Guidelines for Shaheed Minar Commemorations

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali has issued comprehensive directives regarding security and traffic management for the International Mother Language and Shaheed Day observances at the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka. Speaking at a press briefing on Friday morning, 20 February, at the monument, the Commissioner outlined detailed measures to ensure the safety and smooth movement of visitors during the two-day commemoration.

Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali emphasised that access to the Shaheed Minar will be strictly controlled. “Citizens paying homage must use designated entry points, specifically Polashi Mor, Jagannath Hall Crossing, and Shaheed Minar Road. Entry through any other route will not be permitted. After paying their respects, visitors should exit safely via Doel Chattar or Chankhanpul,” he stated.

Security regulations are stringent. The Commissioner confirmed that no sharp objects or flammable materials will be allowed within the premises. “The President, Prime Minister, senior government officials, and foreign diplomats will pay their respects first. The monument will open to the general public from 12:40 a.m. onwards,” he added.
