The notice, signed on Tuesday (10 March) by Ferdous Rahman Milon, Joint Convenor of the Khetlal Upazila branch of the student organisation, details the charges against Abir Iftekhar. It states that during his tenure as president of the Mamudpur Union branch, allegations of financial extortion and physical assault were reported across multiple newspapers and social media platforms. The notice instructs Abir Iftekhar to appear in person and submit a written explanation regarding the accusations to the Upazila student leader, KM Hasan, and Secretary Rashedul Islam within three working days. Rashedul Islam, Secretary of Khetlal Upazila student organisation, commented on the matter, saying, “A video posted by a young man named Liton Molla went viral on social media. The claims presented in that video brought the matter to our attention, prompting the issuance of a show-cause notice to Abir Iftekhar for clarification.”
Responding to the allegations, Abir Iftekhar told Kalbela that he had neither demanded money nor detained the woman. He stated, “There is a conspiracy against me to defame me. The young woman sought my assistance, and I supported her by facilitating arrangements for her marriage.”
