Taka Exchange Rates Against Major Currencies on 15 August

Foreign exchange rates remain important for Bangladeshis involved in remittances, international trade, overseas education, medical treatment and travel. Movements in the value of the taka against major global currencies can directly affect the cost of imported goods, tuition fees, foreign travel, business payments and the amount received by families from relatives working abroad.

On Saturday, 15 August 2026, the quoted exchange rates show that one US dollar is valued at Tk 122.35. The British pound stands considerably higher at Tk 166.24, while one euro is quoted at Tk 144.25. These currencies are particularly significant for Bangladesh because of the country’s trade, remittance and financial links with the United States, Britain and European markets.

Among Middle Eastern currencies, the Kuwaiti dinar has the highest quoted value at Tk 400.26 per unit. The Bahraini dinar follows at Tk 325.97, while one Omani rial is valued at Tk 318. The Saudi riyal stands at Tk 32.79, compared with Tk 33.43 for the UAE dirham and Tk 33.77 for the Qatari riyal.

Asian currencies also show notable differences in their values against the taka. One Singapore dollar is quoted at Tk 96.25, while the Malaysian ringgit stands at Tk 30.09. The Indian rupee is valued at Tk 1.25. One Japanese yen is quoted at Tk 0.773, while one South Korean won is valued at Tk 0.08657780.

Outside Asia and the Middle East, the Australian dollar is priced at Tk 86.90, the Canadian dollar at Tk 87.94 and the New Zealand dollar at Tk 72.02. The Swiss franc is quoted at Tk 147.56, while one South African rand is valued at Tk 7.58.

Exchange rates are not fixed and can change in response to developments in international currency markets. Demand and supply for a currency, interest-rate decisions, inflation, trade flows, central-bank policies and broader economic conditions can all influence its value. Market movements can also cause rates to vary during the course of a single trading day.

The quoted figures should therefore be treated as reference rates rather than guaranteed transaction prices. Banks, authorised money changers and other financial institutions may offer different buying and selling rates depending on the type and size of a transaction. Remittance conversion rates can also differ from rates applicable to commercial payments or cash exchanges.

For anyone planning a substantial international transaction, checking the latest rate with a bank or an authorised foreign-exchange provider immediately before the transaction remains advisable. Even a relatively small movement in the exchange rate can make a noticeable difference when large sums are involved.
