Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the BNP, has expressed profound gratitude to the interim government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, for his ongoing attention to the health of the party’s Chairperson, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Rahman made his appreciation public through a statement released on Friday night (28 November) by BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Begum Khaleda Zia is currently in a critical condition at Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital, receiving intensive medical care. In his statement, Professor Yunus conveyed his deep concern for her health and appealed to the nation to pray for her swift recovery. He has taken a proactive role in monitoring her medical progress, ensuring that all necessary measures, coordination, and expert consultations are in place to provide comprehensive care. Hospital staff have been instructed to remain alert and responsive at all times to any changes in her condition.
Tarique Rahman praised the Chief Adviser’s empathy and courteous engagement, describing it as an exemplary act of humanitarian leadership. He emphasised that Professor Yunus’s careful attention not only supports the immediate well-being of the former Prime Minister but also provides reassurance to the party and the wider public. Analysts note that such conduct reflects a commitment to ethical governance and non-partisan responsibility, highlighting how compassion and professional diligence can positively influence political and social stability.
This expression of gratitude underscores the critical importance of human-centric leadership during times of medical crises, illustrating that moral responsibility and humane governance can transcend political divides, setting a benchmark for both public officials and political actors alike.
