“She painted it at night, with the moon and stars in the sky. Our zodiac signs are included as well—mine is Cancer, hers is Sagittarius. She said, ‘For the next 30 years,’ and stitched by hand the inscription: ‘From Taylor to Selena’,” Selena explained.
In addition to the artwork, Taylor gifted Selena a handwritten song. While the lyrics remain private, Selena shared that Taylor’s song Dorothea was written with her in mind, and another unreleased track titled Family reflects the story of their enduring friendship.
Selena’s husband, Benny Blanco, who was present during the interview, described his own awe when Selena retrieved the painting from her collection of keepsakes.
“She pulled it out, and I said, ‘This is absolutely perfect for the living room,’ and asked, ‘Who made this?’ It is one of the most remarkable pieces I have ever seen,” Benny said.
