A brutal killing has shocked the community of Nandigram in Bogura, where a teenage boy lost his life following a local football dispute. Around 11:00 pm on Thursday, Milon Rahman, a tenth-grade student and member of a local political student organisation, was fatally stabbed in front of a mosque in Burail village. According to his family, Milon was a responsible student, dedicated to his studies, and actively involved in community service.
Milon Rahman, son of Delbur Rahman and a student at Burail High School, became the target of a premeditated attack linked to a football-related disagreement that began nearly a month ago. Local sources and police reports indicate that a minor quarrel between Milon’s neighbours, Nabir Sheikh and Shamim from Birpali, escalated into a physical confrontation during that period.
On Thursday evening, Shamim, while visiting his in-laws, reportedly spotted Nabir Sheikh. Recalling the earlier dispute, Shamim returned to Burail under the cover of darkness with several relatives, travelling by motorcycle and CNG auto-rickshaw. Unable to locate Nabir, the group instead confronted Milon Rahman.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of approximately 10–15 individuals launched a sudden and deliberate attack on Milon, inflicting multiple stab wounds with sharp weapons. He was rushed to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Nandigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman confirmed that preliminary investigations point to the earlier football dispute as the motive. He stated, “Our team is actively pursuing all leads to swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrators.” Milon’s body has been preserved at the hospital for forensic examination.
Bogura-4 Member of Parliament Mosharraf Hossain expressed his condolences, saying, “Milon was my neighbour. It is tragic that such a horrific murder occurred over a football argument. The culprits will be brought to justice without delay.”
