A 15-year-old rickshaw driver, Shanto Kumar Saha, tragically lost his life on Sunday evening while pursuing his stolen vehicle along the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway in the Rampur Rasht area of Feni Sadar Upazila. Eyewitnesses and law enforcement reports indicate that two assailants boarded the rickshaw under the guise of passengers. Upon reaching a secluded stretch of road, they pushed Shanto off the vehicle and fled after dumping it into a roadside ditch. Attempting to give chase behind his rickshaw, Shanto was struck by a fast-moving truck and died instantly at the scene.
The Mohipal Highway Police promptly arrived, recovered the body, and prepared a preliminary inquest report before transferring it to the morgue of Feni 250-Bed General Hospital.

Shanto’s uncle, Ripon Saha, confirmed that the rickshaw belonged to Shanto’s father, who had parked it at home as usual before the tragedy. Seeking small earnings, Shanto had left for Feni town in the evening. Ripon noted that reviewing nearby CCTV footage from the start of the journey could help identify the perpetrators.
OC Asadul Islam of Mohipal Highway Police stated that the truck involved had been impounded and was under police custody.
