Police Headquarters has issued an official notification announcing the routine transfer and reassignment of ten officers holding the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). Signed on Tuesday, 8 September, the administrative directive moves senior personnel across various specialized units, metropolitan commands, and district circles to optimize operational capabilities and strengthen regional policing.
The reassignments affect officers serving in diverse branches, including the Special Branch (SB), Police Headquarters, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Industrial Police, and local district authorities.
Four officers previously attached to the Special Branch have been moved to new regional posts. Md. Tofael Hossain Sarkar has been transferred to Brahmanbaria, while Mehedi Hasan takes up a new role in Satkhira. Md. Robiul Islam has been assigned to Gopalganj, and Mahin Faraji will assume charge of the Gournadi Circle in Barishal.
Changes have also been enacted across field circles and specialized divisions. Md. Asaduzzaman, formerly serving as the ASP of Kaliganj Circle in Gazipur, moves to the Katiadi Circle in Kishoreganj, replacing Md. Tofazzal Hossain, who has been reassigned to the Industrial Police. Tanjina Chowdhury, previously stationed at Police Headquarters, joins the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Meanwhile, S. M. Arif Raiyan moves from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to head the Patiya Circle in Chattogram. Sheikh Muttazul Islam, transferred from Gaibandha ‘B’ Circle, takes over the Kaliganj Circle in Gazipur, and Abu Saleh Md. Ansar Uddin transitions from the Gournadi Circle to the Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP).
Periodic transfers of mid-level and senior officers form a standard element of police administration in Bangladesh. Moving personnel between central intelligence bodies, specialized enforcement branches, and rural circle jurisdictions ensures officers acquire broad operational experience while preventing administrative stagnation in key districts.
The order sets a strict deadline for all affected personnel to complete their administrative handovers by 19 September. Should any officer fail to hand over charge within the stipulated timeframe, they will be considered under “stand release” status effective 20 September, instantly severing their authority at their current stations. Officers have been instructed to complete all official handovers systematically to preserve operational continuity before reporting to their new posts.
