Household LPG is sold in liquid form under a centrally regulated system, with a per-kilogram rate of BDT 105.08. Such controlled pricing is intended to reduce the financial burden on consumers and maintain market stability.

Autogas prices have also increased. The cost per litre has risen from BDT 57.32 to BDT 59.80, an increase of BDT 2.48. This adjustment will have a direct impact on vehicle owners and the transportation sector, which rely heavily on autogas.

Reviewing recent trends, the 12 kg LPG cylinder price increased by BDT 38 in December to BDT 1,253, while autogas rose by BDT 1.74 to BDT 57.32 per litre. In contrast, November saw a reduction in LPG prices, with the 12 kg cylinder falling by BDT 26 to BDT 1,215 and autogas dropping by BDT 1.19 to BDT 55.58.

Analysts attribute these price fluctuations to volatility in international oil markets, supply constraints, foreign currency exchange movements, and domestic demand pressures. While the increases are likely to raise household and business costs, the government and BERC continue to monitor prices closely to ensure transparency and market stability.

Notably, the separate pricing for household LPG and autogas allows consumers, including large families, hotels, restaurants, and transport operators, to plan budgets more effectively under the new rates.
