The Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser has stated the reason for travelling abroad.

Foyez Ahmed Tayyeb, the Special Assistant to the Principal Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology of the interim government, has quietly left the country, citing financial losses and family obligations as the reasons for his departure. His exit has prompted widespread discussion and speculation on social media, prompting him to publicly clarify his position.

In a detailed post on his verified Facebook account at 1:13 am on Saturday, 14 February, Tayyeb wrote that he formally concluded his duties at the ICT Division, PTD, and BTRC between 8–10 February. He confirmed that he subsequently oversaw the election responsibilities in accordance with his official duties, contributing significantly to the technology-driven electoral processes. He also mentioned bidding farewell to his colleagues with due decorum.

“My official last working day was 10 February. On that day, I joined all officers and staff for a farewell dinner. My colleagues sang songs in my honour—it was a truly memorable farewell,” he wrote.

Addressing allegations and critical remarks directed at him, Tayyeb expressed his frustration. He emphasised the importance of verifying facts before making disparaging statements, particularly against someone he described as “honourable and honest.” He added that a colleague had asked him about his next steps after leaving office, to which he replied that he needed to secure a job quickly, noting that his public service had come at significant personal financial cost.

When asked about the urgency of leaving the country, he explained:

“My son has a parent–teacher meeting at school, and my wife has a medical emergency. I am leaving for my family in a proper manner. I already purchased a return ticket. I have been unable to spend sufficient time with my family for a long period, and it is important to be with them—especially today, on Valentine’s Day.”

Tayyeb also highlighted his achievements during his tenure, asserting that he exerted maximum effort to introduce new management systems, technology, and transparency in a ministry previously plagued by inefficiencies and corruption. He claimed to have worked extensively on revising outdated laws and policies. He further denied any involvement in corruption, asserting that certain groups in the mobile and telecom sectors had spread false rumours against him.

Concluding his post, he requested support and prayers from the public:

“Stay well, and please keep me in your prayers.”

Earlier on Saturday morning, at 10:10 am, Tayyeb departed the country on an Emirates Airlines flight via Dubai, ultimately heading to Germany.
