A tragic road accident in Natore’s Lalpur Upazila has claimed the lives of three individuals, including an auto-rickshaw driver, and left at least four passengers injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at around 7:00 am in the village of Nobinagar, along the Lalpur–Ishwardi road.
The deceased have been identified as auto-rickshaw driver Babul Hossain, and passengers Zahidul Islam and Monirul Islam. All three were residents of Chhoto Badkoya village in the Dududia Union of Lalpur Upazila.
According to Lalpur police and local sources, Babul Hossain was transporting six passengers from Lalpur to Ishwardi when the accident took place. Upon reaching Nobinagar, a speeding truck from the opposite direction collided with the auto-rickshaw. One passenger died instantly at the scene, while the injured were swiftly rescued and transported to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, Babul Hossain and another passenger succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Following the crash, the truck driver and his assistant fled the scene. Fire service personnel and police quickly responded, rescuing the victims and sending them to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Lalpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Mojibur Rahman, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway and efforts are being made to trace and apprehend the truck driver.
