A formal investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest that excessive speed or loss of control by one of the drivers may have contributed to the incident.

Local residents have long expressed concern about safety conditions on the Dhaka–Sherpur highway, describing it as one of the region’s busiest arterial routes. Heavy traffic flow, combined with alleged lapses in enforcement of traffic regulations, has reportedly led to frequent minor and major accidents. Community leaders have renewed calls for stricter road safety measures, enhanced monitoring, and rigorous implementation of traffic laws to prevent further loss of life.
