A short-lived rally was held in Hathazari, Chattogram, on Sunday morning by several leaders and activists associated with the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations. The demonstration, which lasted only three minutes, took place in the Dhopa Dighi area of Nandirhat, attracting limited participation.
According to reports from police and local residents, around 12 to 15 individuals took part in the rally. It was led by Hasan Murad, a leader of the Chikandandi Union Jubo League, along with Iqbal Hossain, Joint Secretary of the banned Chattogram North District Chhatra League.
Several videos of the rally quickly circulated on social media, showing participants carrying a banner that read, “Hathazari Upazila Awami League and affiliated organisations, Chattogram.” In the footage, some participants were seen wearing helmets, while others covered their faces, apparently to conceal their identities.

Local residents reported that the rally caused minimal disruption due to its extremely short duration. Observers noted that the demonstration appeared to be a symbolic display rather than a large-scale mobilisation, with participants quickly dispersing after marching for only a few minutes.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the activities of banned political groups in the region, as authorities continue to monitor and crack down on illegal gatherings. Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity and assured that measures are being taken to maintain law and order in Hathazari and surrounding areas.
While the rally was brief, its circulation on social media has drawn attention, prompting both public and official scrutiny of the individuals involved and their affiliations.
