Three Police Officers Reassigned

Three officers of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) rank in Bangladesh Police have been reassigned to new postings in what officials described as a move taken in the public interest. The changes were formalised through an official notification issued on Saturday, 4 April, signed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Ali Hossain Fakir.

According to the notification, the officers concerned are to assume their new responsibilities with immediate effect and will continue to serve in their reassigned roles until further instructions are issued by the কর্তৃপক্ষ. The directive underscores the প্রশাসনিক প্রয়োজন to maintain operational efficiency and strengthen specialised units within the পুলিশ বাহিনী.

Among the কর্মকর্তারা, Assistant Police Commissioner Md Mahmuduzzaman, previously serving with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been transferred to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the capacity of an Assistant Superintendent of Police. Similarly, Md Imrul Hasan, who had been serving as ASP of the Islampur Circle in Jamalpur district, has also been reassigned to RAB in the same rank.

In another move, Assistant Police Commissioner Shahibul Islam, who had been attached to the TDS unit, has been transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, reflecting an internal redistribution of experienced কর্মকর্তাদের across key operational units.

Officials indicated that such reshuffles are part of routine প্রশাসনিক কার্যক্রম aimed at enhancing coordination, boosting field-level efficiency, and reinforcing specialised forces such as RAB, which plays a critical role in counterterrorism and serious crime prevention.

The notification further instructs the কর্মকর্তাদের to hand over their বর্তমান দায়িত্ব by 18 April and report to their নতুন কর্মস্থল within the stipulated সময়সীমা. Failure to comply will result in them being considered “stand released” from 19 April, meaning they will be automatically relieved of their existing duties without further notice.

In a separate order issued on the same day, Additional Superintendent of Police Shakila Yasmin Suchona, who had been serving in the Sitakunda Circle of Chattogram, has been transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Unit of Bangladesh Police. This reassignment highlights the ongoing efforts of the law enforcement authorities to strengthen counterterrorism capabilities amid evolving security challenges.
