In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) has apprehended three professional drug dealers in Savar, recovering a substantial cache of illegal substances. The seizure included 1.2 kilograms of cannabis and three grams of heroin, police confirmed in a press release on Sunday, 15 February. The statement was issued by Inspector Md. Officers of the DB intercepted the suspects during an active drug transaction, arresting three individuals, including a woman. Subsequent investigations led to the filing of cases against them under the Narcotics Control Act at Savar Police Station. The accused were presented in court on Sunday afternoon.

Md. Saidul Islam, the Acting Officer-in-Charge of Dhaka District North DB, stated:
“These individuals are identified professional drug traffickers. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and will continue such targeted operations across Savar and other parts of the district. Our ultimate objective is to eliminate illicit drug activities entirely.”
Authorities also noted that since the beginning of this year, several similar operations across the district have resulted in the recovery of large quantities of drugs. DB officials emphasized that sustained special operations are instilling fear among criminal networks, thereby strengthening control over local drug trafficking.
This recent raid highlights the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to tackle the drug menace, safeguarding communities and disrupting entrenched criminal operations in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
