Bangladesh is expected to witness a slight easing of the ongoing mild to moderate heatwave in the coming days, as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasts scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, and occasional hail across different regions. Daytime and nighttime temperatures could fall by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in some areas, offering temporary relief from the persistent heat.
Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick, senior meteorologist at BMD, provided the official weather update on Saturday, 4 April. He indicated that while some regions may experience short periods of gusty winds and lightning storms, other areas are likely to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.
Currently, districts such as Dhaka, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Rangamati, Chandpur, Barishal, and Patuakhali, along with parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, are under the influence of a mild to moderate heatwave, which is expected to persist but gradually weaken in intensity over the next few days.
Five-Day Weather Overview (4–8 April)

The meteorological department has cautioned residents in affected regions to remain vigilant as sudden gusts and lightning storms may temporarily disrupt normal activities. While most areas will continue to experience dry conditions with intermittent cloud cover, scattered thunderstorms and hail cannot be ruled out, particularly in the north-eastern and coastal regions.
Experts note that this period marks a temporary moderation of the heatwave, with the chance of cooler temperatures providing some respite. The predicted showers and isolated hail events are likely to be short-lived but could contribute to lowering local temperatures, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
Residents are advised to follow safety precautions during thunderstorms and remain updated with BMD forecasts to navigate the changing weather conditions safely.
