Key Government and BNP Programmes Scheduled in Dhaka Today

Dhaka hosts a wide range of programmes every day organised by government offices, political parties and social organisations. Monday (24 November) is no exception, as several important official and political events are scheduled across the capital. A list of key programmes has been outlined to inform concerned stakeholders and the public.

Programme of the Disaster Affairs Adviser
At 10:00 am, Adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Faruk-e-Azam, will attend the ‘National Peace Facilitators Conference’ as the chief guest. The conference is being organised by The Hunger Project Bangladesh and will take place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Conference Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event is expected to focus on peacebuilding, social harmony, community leadership, and disaster preparedness. Representatives from development organisations, civil society members and policy experts are also expected to participate.

Programme of the Finance Adviser
At 11:00 am, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed will join a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement. The meeting will be held in Room 400 of the newly constructed Building-1 of the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat. Discussions are likely to cover government procurement policies, transparency, cost efficiency, and the progress of ongoing public projects.

BNP Programmes
At 10:30 am, a seminar titled ‘Review of the Media Reform Report’ will be held at the Celebrity Hall of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. The seminar is organised by the Broadcast Journalist Centre (BJC). BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend the programme as the chief guest. Media freedom, reform initiatives and challenges facing journalism in Bangladesh are expected to be discussed.

At the same time, an inauguration ceremony of the newly formed committee of the Titas Workers and Employees Union will take place at the Titas Auditorium in Karwan Bazar. BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan will be present as the chief guest. The programme will focus on labour rights, workers’ welfare and organisational development.
