Trust Bank Debuts Digital Service Point

Trust Bank PLC has strengthened its position in Bangladesh’s rapidly modernising banking sector by unveiling a Smart Point and introducing the country’s first Smart Teller Machine (STM). The move signals a decisive shift towards fully digital, self-service banking, aimed at improving efficiency and customer accessibility.

The new Smart Point, located at SKS Tower in Mohakhali, was formally inaugurated by the Chairman of Trust Bank PLC and Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, who graced the occasion as chief guest. The ceremony was attended by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahsan Zaman Chowdhury, alongside members of the board, senior Bangladesh Army officials, and high-ranking executives from the bank’s headquarters.

At the core of the Smart Point concept is a seamless blend of advanced banking technologies. The facility houses both the Smart Teller Machine (STM) and a Cash Recycling Machine (CRM), offering customers a comprehensive range of services in a fully automated environment. These include instant account opening, on-the-spot debit card issuance, cash deposits and withdrawals, loan requests, and immediate account statement generation.

The introduction of the STM marks a landmark development in Bangladesh’s banking history. For the first time, customers can open accounts and receive debit cards within minutes, eliminating lengthy paperwork and waiting periods typically associated with conventional banking. This innovation not only enhances customer convenience but also reduces operational pressure on physical branches.

Functioning as a digital branch, the Smart Point allows customers to carry out essential financial transactions independently, at their own convenience. The model reflects a broader global trend, where financial institutions are embracing automation, artificial intelligence, and self-service platforms to deliver faster and more efficient services.

A breakdown of the Smart Point’s capabilities is provided below:

Trust Bank officials noted that the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to promote innovation and customer-centric solutions. By integrating digital infrastructure with user-friendly interfaces, the bank aims to deliver a more agile and responsive banking experience.

The bank has also indicated plans to gradually roll out similar Smart Points in key locations across the country. This expansion is expected to contribute to greater financial inclusion, particularly by extending modern banking facilities to underserved and time-constrained customers.

As Bangladesh’s banking sector continues to evolve, Trust Bank’s Smart Point initiative represents a forward-looking approach that blends technology with convenience, setting a new benchmark for digital financial services in the country.
