The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has apprehended two more suspects in connection with the murder of Youth League leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi, Dhaka. The arrested individuals are Sohail, also known as Patta Sohail or Monir Hossain (30), and Sujon, also known as Mukhpora Sujon.
The arrests took place last night, with Sohail detained in the Birulia area of Savar, Dhaka, and Sujon apprehended on Tongi Mazar Road in Gazipur. The information was confirmed by RAB-4 at around 12:15 pm today.
According to RAB-4, both suspects are known contract killers. Sohail is considered the prime suspect in the Golam Kibria murder case. Major Mohammad Abrar Faisal Sadi, RAB-4’s media officer, stated that a press conference will be held this afternoon at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar to provide further details.
The attack occurred on Monday at approximately 6:40 pm, when Golam Kibria, the Youth League’s member secretary of Pallabi, was inside Vikrampur Hardware and Sanitary Shop in Pallabi Section 12. Eyewitnesses reported that three armed assailants on motorcycles entered the shop and fired seven rounds at Kibria, hitting him in the head, chest, and back.
Local residents detained Md. Jonny Bhuiyan at the scene, according to police reports. Authorities recovered seven spent cartridges from the location, corroborating eyewitness accounts.
