Police in Pangsha, Rajbari have apprehended two young men in connection with the gang rape of a 22-year-old woman. The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 4 March, under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, confirmed Sheikh Moinul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Pangsha Model Police Station.

According to Sheikh Moinul Islam, the case was filed last Saturday under Section 9(3) of the Act. The suspects were traced and arrested on the night of 3 March in Islampur, Dhamrai, under the supervision of investigating officer Md. Abdul Gani. They have been sent to Rajbari Court for recording confessional statements, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Police reports indicate that the victim became acquainted with a man named Sajol through the social media platform TikTok approximately seven months ago. Following Sajol’s instructions, she travelled from Nandail, Mymensingh to Bohaladanga village, Pangsha on the night of 27 February around 8:30 pm.
On arrival, Sajol was not present. Instead, she encountered Akash and Jamal Mondal, who allegedly lured her with false promises of marriage. The two then forcibly raped her against her will, before robbing her of 10,000 Bangladeshi Taka in cash and a pair of gold earrings, and fled the scene.
Officer Islam added that both suspects have previously been implicated in multiple criminal cases. After their arrest, the court proceedings were initiated to allow for further investigation. Local residents have expressed shock and anxiety over the incident, emphasising the impact on community safety.
