Narayanganj, Bangladesh – In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, a joint task force has arrested two drug dealers in Fatulla, Narayanganj, seizing a substantial quantity of cannabis. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, recovered 40 kilograms of the illegal substance.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Joy Mia, 25, and Mithu Sardar, 35. The raid occurred around 1:30 a.m. on 31 January in the vicinity of the Deovog Nur Mosque in Fatulla, a known area of illicit activities.
According to police sources, Joy Mia is the son of the late Lal Mia of Deovog Nur Mosque area, while Mithu Sardar is the son of the late Hasan Sardar from Shantinagar, Bholail. Both have been active in the drug trade for some time, reportedly employing multiple methods to distribute narcotics across the region.
“Acting on a tip-off, our team conducted a swift operation and successfully apprehended the two individuals along with 40 kilograms of cannabis,” said Abdul Mannan, Officer-in-Charge of Fatulla Model Police Station. “We are continuing efforts to identify and detain their networks, including their godfathers and accomplices, who play a major role in the drug supply chain.”
The seizure is considered one of the largest in recent months in the Narayanganj area, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the rising drug menace. Cannabis trafficking has been a persistent challenge in the district, with authorities intensifying operations following increased intelligence reports.
