Two people lost their lives in a tragic head-on collision between a passenger bus and a tractor in Birahimpur, Guchchagram area of Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat Upazila on Saturday, 27 December. The incident occurred around midday when a Molla Enterprise bus, en route from Dinajpur to Dhaka, collided with a tractor carrying sand.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact was severe, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged. The tractor driver, identified as Juin, aged 23, was killed instantly at the scene. The bus’s helper also succumbed to injuries, though their identity and address have yet to be confirmed.
Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Ghoraghat Police Station, confirmed the details of the accident. “The collision took place in front of Birahimpur Guchchagram village around noon. Two people died as a result of the crash,” he stated.
Following the accident, the Molla Enterprise bus was impounded by the local police. However, the bus driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, and authorities are currently seeking his whereabouts. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision, including the possibility of overspeeding or negligence.
