A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two young men in Ashuganj Upazila of Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, on Wednesday evening, when their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding truck. The victims, both motorcycle riders, died instantly as a result of the severe impact.

According to local reports, the collision occurred around 6:00 pm on 14 January on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway, near the Sonarampur Bridge in the Sadar Union of Ashuganj Upazila. Eyewitnesses described how the two riders were travelling towards Bhairab on their motorcycle when the truck, reportedly moving at high speed, struck them head-on. The motorcycle was mangled beyond recognition, leaving both riders critically injured.

They called for stricter traffic enforcement, improved road safety measures, and public awareness campaigns to prevent such tragic incidents.

The accident underscores the critical need for responsible driving, especially on heavily trafficked highways, and highlights the vulnerability of motorcyclists in Bangladesh, who are frequently exposed to road hazards caused by speeding and negligent drivers.
