In Ullapara, Sirajganj, a mobile court has sentenced two local YouTubers to one month in prison each for possession of illegal drugs. In addition to the prison term, both were fined 500 taka, with a further three days’ imprisonment in default of payment. He handed down one-month imprisonment to both individuals, imposed 500-taka fines, and ruled that in case of non-payment, they would serve an additional three days in prison. Sub-Inspector Halim added, “We regularly conduct operations to curb drug abuse, particularly among local youth. Rapid justice through mobile courts acts as a deterrent and sends a clear message against drug-related offences.”
Local residents noted that the arrests have created significant attention because both individuals are active on social media platforms. Authorities believe that such measures will act as a warning to other young people and reduce drug-related activity in the area.
The Ullapara mobile court’s action highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to swift and effective law enforcement against narcotics, ensuring that offenders face prompt justice while reinforcing public safety in local communities.
