United Commercial Bank PLC has launched a comprehensive digital banking ecosystem named ‘UCB One’, designed to bring a wide range of financial and lifestyle services under a single mobile application. Through this platform, customers will be able to access everyday banking functions alongside services such as shopping, travel bookings, utility bill payments, and exclusive promotional offers—all within one unified digital interface.
The official inauguration of the platform took place on Sunday at a formal event held at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. The ceremony was attended by Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Economic Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, as the chief guest. He emphasised that the full-scale digital transformation of the financial sector is now an urgent necessity. According to him, expanding digital banking access across all segments of society will enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and significantly strengthen financial inclusion.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of United Commercial Bank, Sharif Zahir, noted that the institution has made substantial progress in recent years through improved governance and increased transparency. He reiterated the bank’s strategic commitment to strengthening cashless transactions and aligning its operations with the evolving demands of a digital-first financial environment. He also described digital banking as the future cornerstone of the banking industry.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, highlighted that UCB One is not merely a mobile application but a fully integrated service platform. He explained that the initiative is particularly geared towards young, technology-oriented customers and is expected to play a vital role in accelerating the country’s transition towards a cashless economy.
At the beginning of the programme, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Md Abdullah Al Mamun presented the key features of the application, explaining how existing digital banking services will gradually be migrated into the new platform to ensure a seamless user experience.
