The Department of Primary Education has issued an important directive for all primary schools under its jurisdiction, concerning nationwide competitions and training programmes for students. The initiative covers a variety of cultural and sporting activities, including painting, poetry recitation, debates, and ghazal competitions, as well as cricket, football, badminton, and karate training at district stadiums throughout the year.
According to an official memorandum signed by Assistant Director Mahfuza Khatun, the Department has expressed keen interest in facilitating student participation in these activities for 2026. The directive emphasises that participation or registration for any of these competitions does not require any payment, ensuring that all talented students can take part regardless of financial background.
The memorandum further instructs that students who wish to participate must register or submit applications via the official websites between 1 January and 15 January. Schools are encouraged to actively promote these opportunities among their students to ensure broad participation.
In addition, the Department has highlighted the role of Talent Sports Limited, the organising body responsible for conducting the competitions and training sessions. Schools and relevant authorities are requested to provide necessary support and guidance to ensure smooth participation and to foster student engagement.
The directive also urges school principals and concerned officials to assist in the preparation and facilitation of students for both cultural and sports events, promoting not only competitive spirit but also the overall development of young talents.
The following table summarises the events and training programmes under this initiative:
| Category | Activities | Venue/Platform | Registration Period | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cultural Competitions | Painting, Poetry Recitation, Debate, Ghazal | Online/Schools | 1 Jan – 15 Jan | Free |
| Sports Training | Cricket, Football, Badminton, Karate | District Stadiums (Year-round) | 1 Jan – 15 Jan | Free |
This nationwide initiative represents a significant effort by the Department of Primary Education to nurture talent, encourage creativity, and develop sporting skills among young learners, creating a holistic environment for personal growth and achievement.
Schools are urged to disseminate this information promptly and actively support students in accessing these opportunities. The Department stresses that such engagement will greatly benefit the students’ educational and extracurricular development while promoting national participation in cultural and sporting activities.
