In a shocking incident in Kalía upazila of Narail, 73-year-old freedom fighter Krishnapada Archarya was brutally attacked by three local men over a longstanding land dispute. The accused—Ashikur Rahman Suman (40), Akibur Rahman Milon (37), and Mahidul Sheikh (35)—allegedly assaulted Archarya in front of Saider’s shop in Choto Kalía village on Sunday evening.
Incident Details
According to local witnesses and family members, Archarya, son of the late Santosh Archarya, was returning home from the Kalía market at around 8:30 pm when the assailants suddenly launched a violent attack. The attackers reportedly struck him on the head and body with both hands and feet, leaving him severely injured.
Neighbours and bystanders rushed Archarya to the Kalía Upazila Health Complex for initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.
Archarya, speaking from his hospital bed, revealed the motive behind the assault. “The attack was connected to a legal dispute over ancestral land and the Monsha Temple property with my neighbours, Fazr Sheikh and Oliar Rahman. They attacked me with the intention to kill. I will file a formal case and demand justice,” he stated.
Police have confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. Officers attempted to contact the accused but were unable to reach them.
