Worker Dies by Electrocution

A day labourer has died after being electrocuted while carrying out tin roofing work in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district, Bangladesh.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 am on Sunday (3 May) in the Clubpara area of Saharbaty village. The deceased has been identified as Enamul Haque (40), son of the late Nozer Ali of the same village. Another individual, Monowara Khatun, sustained injuries in the incident and is currently receiving treatment at the Gangni Upazila Health Complex.

According to local sources, Enamul Haque was engaged in installing a tin shed on a shop located at a market in the Clubpara area. During the work, the tin sheet came into contact with an overhead electrical wire. As a result, he was electrocuted and fell from the structure, sustaining serious injuries.

Residents in the vicinity quickly responded and rescued him from the site. He was then taken to the Gangni Upazila Health Complex, where the attending medical officer declared him dead upon arrival.

During the rescue effort, Monowara Khatun also came into contact with electricity and suffered injuries. She was immediately admitted to the same health facility, where she is undergoing medical care.

Police from Gangni Police Station visited the scene following the incident. Officer-in-Charge Al Mamun confirmed that law enforcement inspected the location after being informed. He stated that necessary legal procedures are being processed in connection with the incident.
