Young Carpenter Killed in Road Crash

A tragic road accident on Thursday morning claimed the life of a young carpenter after a motorcycle collided head-on with a dump truck on the Manikganj–Singair regional road. The fatal incident occurred at approximately half past ten in the morning near the Palra bus stand in Manikganj Sadar upazila, leaving residents of the surrounding communities deeply shocked and renewing concerns about traffic safety along the busy regional route.

The deceased was identified as Roman, aged twenty-five, the son of Hazrat Ali from Mitra village under Betila Mitra union in Manikganj Sadar. Roman earned his livelihood as a carpenter and was widely known in his community for his diligence and modest character. Family members and neighbours said he frequently travelled to different localities for carpentry work in order to support his household.

According to eyewitness accounts and local residents, Roman was travelling back to his home in Mitra village from the Outpara area on a motorcycle on Thursday morning. As he approached the Palra bus stand, his motorcycle collided directly with a dump truck travelling from the opposite direction. Witnesses reported that the truck was moving at high speed when the crash occurred.

The force of the impact caused severe damage to the motorcycle and left Roman critically injured. People from nearby shops and roadside establishments rushed to the scene moments after the collision in an effort to rescue him. However, despite their immediate response, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene before any medical assistance could be provided.

The sudden accident caused alarm and temporary disruption along the road as local residents gathered near the crash site. The news of the young man’s death spread quickly through nearby villages, casting a shadow of grief over the community.

Police from Manikganj Sadar Police Station arrived shortly after receiving information about the incident. Officers secured the area, recovered the body, and initiated the necessary legal procedures. Authorities later arranged for the body to be handed over to the family following official formalities.

The officer in charge of the police station, Mohammad Ekram Hossain, confirmed that the dump truck involved in the accident left the scene immediately after the collision. Law enforcement agencies are currently attempting to identify the vehicle and locate its driver. He stated that an investigation has been launched and legal action will be taken once the driver responsible is traced.
